Albert Einstein Cleaning Days Project - May 17th to 22nd 2004

This project was developed by 200 plus volunteers from three local Impact Clubs and high school participants in Lupeni. The project was financed with 500 euros by Asociatia ProDemocratia (ProDemocracy Association)-Constanza Club.

The main purpose of the project was to involve the local community in solving the problems it faces in its day- to- day life; one of the major problems in the community is lack of ecological awareness and updated information regarding local ecology problems. Many local partners were involved in the project, but the most important activist was children form local schools. The reason the children were particularly interested is that the main activities of the project focused on educational issues and raising environmental consciousness.

The project consisted in the following activities: an essay contest on ecological topics, a contest focusing on the cleaning the green areas surrounding the schools, ecology classes, and finally informational campaigns took place throughout all schools.

The target group of the project was the Lupeni community and the direct beneficiaries were the students from Lupeni schools.
