1. “When you give, you get a smile”
The project aims to offer an enjoyable afternoon for the 150 beneficiaries from the day center “Save the Children”, Petrila. This year, the second edition of this project is being organized. In December 2004, our club carried out a similar project for the beneficiaries from “Save the Children”, which led to the creation of a partnership with this organization.

2. “ Running from boredom”
During the Autumn days of Lupeni, the members of IMPACT Teoretic club organized a bicycle and cross-country competition, at the end of which the winners received prizes consisting of money. Through this project, the youngsters spent their free time in a healthy and entertaining way.

3. Improving school facilities and the student-teacher communication in GSDL Petrosani
IMPACT Petrosani youth club initiated a forum called “Improving the study environment and the student-teacher communication in GSDL Petrosani” on the 13th of May 2005 in the Petrosani University Hall. The forum had three topics for discussion: the study environment, the teaching-grading system and the students’ and teachers’ conduct within the institution. The topics were chosen according to the results of a statistical research done by the IMPACT youth.

4. “Don’t give Bribes” An Anti- corruption campaign in the Jiu Valley
This project intended to raise awareness of the long term negative effects of small level corruption. Themes: what is a bribe? Why do we need to give bribes? Why shouldn’t we give bribes? What can we do to stop it? It was a free show meant to offer an example of youth initiative in the Jiu Valley (one of the most corrupt region in the country) and to offer practical solutions for rebuilding the democratic values for sustainable development.

5. “A better school for a better future”
The IMPACT club organized presentations for the 8th grade pupils from Lupeni and Uricani, and distributed informative materials about the course offerings of the Theoretical High School from Lupeni. Due to this project, a greater number of pupils registered for the high school compared to previous years.

6. Cleaning Days
This project was a test to see what can be done in one day in terms of environmental improvement and community cooperation. With a very small budget, this project managed to drastically improve the physical surroundings by bringing together individuals and institutions in the local community for increasing its awareness and creating an obvious positive impact for ecological problems.

7. "Open Hearts" Fundraising Christmas Gala
The Uricani IMPACT club came together on the 19th of December 2004 with a student-led drama performance and Christmas carols that had the twin goals of 1) benefiting the IMPACT members and the community through the Christmas program itself, and 2) to also raise money for poor families from the community of Uricani. This event had an attendance of 400 people and succeeded to raise money through donations, selling tickets, and selling souvenirs made by kids, totaling approximately 7,5 millions lei ($250). This money made it possible for us to provide Christmas dinners for 15 poor families. This project benefited from important involvement with the local mass-media (press, radio and TV) and community institutions like mayor’s office, local council, churches and the local schools.

8. “Open Hearts” fundraising charity project, 2nd Ed.
On December 17th, the IMPACT clubs from Uricani ran the second edition of the charity Christmas choral and drama performance “Open hearts.”The project aimed to bring the Christmas spirit in people’s hearts and to attract citizens’ attention upon the need for active engagement in local issues. The project involved the majority of educational institutions and churches from Uricani, alongside the local authorities. Through this project, the clubs succeeded to raise an adequate amount of money to purchase food products for 10 families.

9. Jiu Valley HIV/AIDS Forum
The HIV/AIDS forum was organized on the occasion of world’s AIDS Day. The IMPACT 2 members in Lupeni wanted to show their support and
solidarity for the people who live with this horrible disease as well as to educate those who are not infected or those who have lost a dear. We chose to organize this event hoping to facilitate the exchange of information and communication between different organizations that deal with this issue such as regional and national NGO’s, local authorities, groups of people and families affected by HIV-AIDS, teachers and clerics.

10. Ecological Outhouse in Retezat National Park
This project was an example of civic responsibly and ecological awareness by the IMPACT members for the communities of Lupeni and Uricani cities. With a small budget and a lot of heart and hard work the IMPACT members succeeded to build the first outhouse and ecological signs in one of the key entrances to the National Park of Retezat, thus solving a civic and ecological problem for this beautiful, but previously polluted area.

11. “Campsite and outhouse construction in Retezat National Park” ecological project
IMPACT members sought to bring to an end the environmental degradation from the proximity of Cabana Rusu and to better serve the guests of the Retezat National Park by building a “Leave No Trace” campsite and outhouse facility. This idea was based on the 7 Environmental principles promoted by Leave No Trace Inc., USA (www.lnt.org). The core philosophy of each principle is based on respect for nature by using good judgment and awareness of one’s actions while partaking in outdoors activities. The young participants of IMPACT studied these principles and decided to put them in practice.

12. “Christmas Performance”
This project consisted of a Christmas performance at the local cinema in Lupeni, organized by the IMPACT club. Choir groups from various local organizations were brought together to perform for the community and local officials.

13. Grandpartent’s Ball
Grandparents’ Ball was meant to be an unprecedented event in which youth and senior citizens are brought together. Grandparents and nephews spent one memorable evening together. The youngsters sang, danced, and were actors for one night. “The Grandparents” shared their
life experiences and enjoyed everything that they were offered.

14. “Here Comes Santa Claus”
The young members of IMPACT I youth club decided to think of a way to reward the hard work of their colleagues from the other clubs from Jiu Valley. They first contacted Santa Claus who would provide assistance in the implementation of the project. Together with Caritas Organization (Catholic Charities) from Petroºani, they managed to prepare 200 Christmas gifts for their colleagues from Jiu Valley. Each IMPACT youth club prepared an artistic show to reward Santa Claus, who, at the end of the event, gave gifts to everyone.

15. “Hike safely”
Among the projects ran by IMPACT youth clubs one can find several initiatives that concern ecology, preservation and promotion of the natural habitat. The “Hike Safely” project aimed to promote awareness of a local area as an attraction for tourists, to place mark signs on the itinerary to Pestera De Gheaþã (the Ice Cave) – Valea de Pesti (Valley of the Fish), near The Retezat National Park, and to inform tourists about the danger of pollution and the importance of preserving the environment. The members of IMPACT 2 ran a fundraising campaign in order to achieve the following: print out leaflets with information about the environment protection, buy the wood necessary to mark the chosen itinerary, and to buy the garbage bags needed to clean the respective area. The city hall of Uricani sent the tools needed for cleaning the area and a vehicle to transport the garbage.

16. “Love your neighbor”
After a close analysis of the problems in our community, the IMPACT members decided to help 20 families with a precarious financial situation. Each club member contributed with funds donated by their families. In this way, they succeeded to help 20 families with clothes, shoes, food and toys for children. This initiative is truly laudable, as it came from youth of ages 13 to 17 years, who mobilized and implemented this project.

17. “Restoration of City Hospital Park from Lupeni”
This project is an initiative of IMPACT I youth club, supported by the manager of Lupeni Municipal Hospital. Together with Young Life Europe, they implemented an ecological project aimed to restore the hospital’s park. The funds needed for this project were provided by Young Life. The hospital management provided the necessary tools and electricity. Because the park was in an advanced stage of degradation, three days of hard work were necessary in order to finalize this project.

18. “Saturday night we go out for a movie”cultural project
The IMPACT members observed the need of youth from Uricani to have more opportunities to spend their free time in healthy ways
during week-ends. As a result, we carried out a cultural project that lasted 5 months and consisted of projecting 14 educational movies.
Watching the movies was free of charge at all times. Our initiative was well received by the youth from Uricani community. At the same
time, the implementation of this project meant the functioning of the only cinema in the Jiu Valley, which was previously entirely unused.

19. Violence: Where does it lead?
The main goal of this project is to educate youth and their teachers about violence as a social phenomenon, about the legal framework in the field of human and children’ rights, as well as offering information about whom to address, should they be victims or witnesses of violent acts. This information campaign took place within the schools and high schools from the Jiu Valley. The activities consisted of information sessions, drama as a tool for social change, civic education classes, and the distribution of informative materials through mass media.

20. “More sport, more health”
The IMPACT members became aware of the need to restore the school sports ground and therefore thought of a project that would directly address this problem. For that reason, they applied to the “DisneyHand” program financed by Youth Service America and obtained a 500 USD grant to support their project. With this money, the IMPACT members renovated the sports grounds from the two schools in Uricani and bought the materials necessary for upkeeping their sport classes in good conditions. The project involved, besides the IMPACT members, other youngsters who decided to join the team and thus learned about the helpfulness of community service projects.

21. “Children for children”
On June 1st, the club members organized an open air performance for all the children from Uricani. It was a complex event, which started with the presentation of the club and continued with four sketches, the contest “The best carnival costume”, a lottery and games. We also had a sales stand with lottery, for fundraising. The money was used for the project “Children for grandparents.”

22. "Santa Claus in Mission"
Every year on Christmas the members of IMPACT I Club organize a service project for the orphans from Hunedoara County. This year 18 kids with ages between 13 -17 years, from Lupeni Day Center will take part in a trip organized by IMPACT I members around Hunedoara County.Hunedoara is a county with many tourist attractions, being blessed with many beautiful places, and many historical sites. This county used to be the homeland of the ancient Dacians. On the return from the trip, Santa Claus will meet the 18 youngsters at the IMPACT Resources Center. The money for this project has been raised by the IMPACT I members from local entrepreneurs and local authorities.

23. "Santa Claus doesn't come alone!"
The project aims to assist 10 poor families from Petrosani city with food and clothes, during the Christmas holidays. The project is divided in 2 parts. The first part consists of a fundraising campaign needed to purchase the food. During the second part of this project we want to bring joy to those who live in the colony of Petrosani by decorating a Christmas tree and organizing an artistic performace for them.

24. Christmas Time - Craciuniada
Craciuniada is a "toy raising" and fundraising campaign which takes place in the schools and high schools from Lupeni. Between November 15'th and December 15'th, 2006 in each school from Lupeni there have been boxes and sacks for collecting toys. The toys were meant to reach 200 children coming from a poor neighbourhood of the town. The members of IMPACT 2 Club hope that through this project the students will become aware that the disadvantaged children are confronted with many problems.

25. “Closer to people”
The project “Closer to people aimed to ensure the distribution of 200 sets of school kits and hygiene products to the disadvantaged families from Iasi, the Toma Cozma area, Pacurari Ticau, the Economic High School No. 1 Iasi, and the children from the Dialyze Center Iasi. Another purpose was to involve the community members in cleaning the living and playgrounds, as well as to raise the citizens’ concern for the personal hygiene.

26. “First steps”
“First steps” has been the first project of the club. The club members hope that the other schools from the neighborhood will be inspired by such actions. The members of the club are grouped in three teams, each of them coordinated by a leader. Their activities are oriented towards two directions: cleaning and reconditioning.

27. “Open your heart”
Organization of an information campaign on issues of HIV / AIDS. The Humanitarian ribbon and distribution of informative materials. Media campaign.

28. “Young people taking care of the senior citizens”
Distributing a hot meal to the old people from the Ticau / Sararie area from Iasi, offering moral and human support within the monthly meetings of young people with the senior citizens. The meetings have been organized on a monthly basis, Saturdays or Sundays, for three months (October, November and December 2005).

29. “Choose Life”
The project was meant to increase youth’s awareness on the dangers of drugs use. The club members made a film, a song and a theatre play on this issue. The partners in the project have been: the Center of Counseling and Prevention, within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Center for people with drug addiction from the Hospital No. 9. The project has been implemented between 3 and 23 October at the Dacia high school. The project results will be used by other IMPACT clubs for carrying out similar projects on drugs use issues.

30. „Christmas Presents”
The project “Christmas Presents” was the first project of IMPACT Sf. Andrei. 20 orphans and poor children from the school, together with 20 children from families near Bucharest have been offered by the IMPACT members copy books, pencils, pens and hygienic products. Their next project involves reducing the degree of violence amongst youth in schools. The IMPACT members organized an artistic performance during which they played games, sang Christmas carols and celebrated together the Christmas. One of the beneficiaries – a 5 year old child- received a Christmas tree from IMPACT. It was the first Christmas tree he ever had, as the family could not afford to buy one.

31. “HIV/AIDS – Discrimination and Domestic Violence”
The project included various activities, such as debates on the two main topics, discussions in the class room, and visits at a hospital for transmittable diseases.

32. “SOLTISI – Solidarity with the youth affected by AIDS”
During this project, the IMPACT members met the children from the day center “Alaturi de Voi”, children from the Hospice Center Gulliver from Iasi and other children affected by HIV/ AIDS. The project included the organization of a carnival in which the children participated together with the IMPACT members.
