IMPACT INNOVATORS Award (annual)

This cash award is to encourage a spirit of innovation in regards to developing the IMPACT model. This award will be given out yearly to one individual who adds value to the IMPACT model in concrete ways. That is, an IMPACT innovator award is not given just for a single good idea, but a set of good ideas that are put into practice--ideas with feet! (And good ideas can come in many forms-such as structuring old information in new ways, helping IMPACT develop an "organizational memory" so that all the great experiences and trainings are not lost, etc.). Candidates must be recommended by someone else and they need not be New Horizons employees. This award will be decided by the board of New Horizons.

2008 Award
Maria Neagu is clearly an IMPACT innovator, adding value at several levels. First, Maria spearheaded the inclusion of Theatre forum (or Theatre for social change) into New Horizons and the IMPACT model. This is a natural fit for IMPACT as a service learning model as theatre forum is also an experiential education method and aims at social transformation. Maria has also been behind the development of street animation as well as being instrumental in the One Level Up project. All of these projects have not just been good ideas, but have found their feet through solid implementation and further growth and replicability.

IMPACT Resource Development Award (occasional)

This is a cash bonus for the development and implementation of an IMPACT resource and is open to anyone. For example, a training on accounting/bookkeeping for IMPACT service projects that is meeting a need in the program development.

To be considered, the training must be in the NHF distinctive format: Overview (problem statement), Objectives (change outcomes), Activities (methods to acheive the objectives), etc. Some flexibility is granted in these categories. It must 1) meet a clear need in the development of the IMPACT model, 2) be translated into Romanian/English 3) and reviewed by two persons in leadership. The training or other innovation must demonstrate creativity and be field tested. This award need not be only for a training, but can be the development of a software platform for IMPACT/FNO or other innovation. (These awards can be shared as well, but recipients will be disqualified if there is controversy over the involvement of others that is not recognized).
