This day will provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners from this international group to meet and share research on the role of faith communities in promoting human development. Our keynote presentations will be on the work of London Citizens - an alliance of faith and community groups organising for social change - and so our conference will be held at St Margaret's Church, Canning Town, a founder member of this alliance.

The goal of this session is to prepare participants to be effective advocates for youth service policy. Increasingly, policymakers, educators, and practitioners understand that effective policies provide a secure foundation for supporting youth service program development and the sustainability of these programs over time.

From 16-17 November 2005, more than 60 policy-makers, volunteering organisation leaders and youth volunteers from 14 European countries met at HM Treasury, London, to discuss the link between youth volunteering and active citizenship.
